**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Here in the excuse me, here in the spooky coop, we promised you last episode a story from a Hawaiian person. And we're going to we're going to get into
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** We're saving that for last.

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** We're saving that for last today. And it is a wonderful story. It's an uplifting, beautiful story. But first, Michelle, you have quite the story that you've brought for us today.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah, it's a story that some people know. It's pretty well known, but other people have never heard of it. And um I think we deep dived into this one pretty good. We got some information that some people don't know. And um we're heading back to 1980 back to a place in Birmingham, England on Thornton Road. And it's uh it's well people live there. because it was synonymous with something that couldn't be explained. Well, they didn't live there because of that, but I guess their house values went down, so they couldn't move. Uh, it was something that felt less of a prank and more of a deliberate, intelligent force. At first, no one believed them until in 1991, 1981. Go ahead, Paul.

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Anyway, in our bill up here. We're talking about the Thornton Road poltergeist. Now, there are a lot of ways to look at events like this, but today we're going to set aside the skeptics. We're going to talk about what it was like to be there, to feel the stones hitting the glass, to hear the roof tiles shattering, and to know in your gut that there was no one throwing them.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** That's right. It started in the spring of 1980.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** If I can find spooky music, let's put some on right here in the background. Does anyone remember 1980?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** I do.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I do. That's the year I graduated high school. Talk about dating myself. Anyway, it wasn't there wasn't a slow buildup. It just started like that. Like bang. Literally bang. One day, residents of these row homes on Thornton Road found themselves under siege. It wasn't a person with a cat with a catapult. You know, they really tried to sell. That was the official. It was a person with a catapult. It It wasn't. It was some, you know, they tried to claim that the police closed the case saying it was a person with this mysterious huge catapult somewhere.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** They wheeled out of a garage, quickly set up, flung rocks hundreds of feet into the air, and then quickly
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** at least 200 ft away.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. Um, and uh, frankly, these rocks came in more aggressively than anyone had a catapult and more on target. It was really A lot more mysterious than that could have ever been.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Exactly. Now, imagine you're sitting in your living room. The curtains are drawn. Maybe you're watching the evening news on the television after a long day and suddenly there's this huge crack.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. We didn't have the internet. You had to have been watching the TV.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** That's right. Cable. A stone hits your window.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** It was MTV was still playing music.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Mhm. Yes.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Music. M standed for music. television.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** So, after this crack, this you discover a stone has hit your window. You jump. You look outside and you're expecting to find a vandal or perhaps the proverbial note tied to the rock. And there's nobody. And there's no one anywhere. Nothing. Just the empty street, the dim glow of the street lights, and silence.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** What do you think they thought that rock would say?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Get out. I don't know.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Anyway, you go to get your phone. to call your friend. That's back when phones were on the wall. And um you see uh you would see that while you're talking on the phone, a few minutes later there would be a thud against your front door. So you bring the phone cuz like you know you have this 23 ft cord on the phone cuz you're like with it
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** and you go slowly to open the door. There's no one there. So you sc you scream, you know, something like Margaret, Margaret, there's no one there. And a shudder of cold runs through your body when you realize that a stone hit the door and it didn't come from anywhere. Your neighbors didn't throw it. There's no punk kid out there and then all of a sudden you hear thud crash.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Mhm.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And you look and there's a rock hit your neighbor's house and you see another rock flying aiming perfectly for your neighbor's window.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** They run out and Look, they look at you like, "What the heck? Did you throw a rock at my house?"
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And both of you run in,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** panicked.

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** That see, that's the part that really chills me, Michelle, that that there appears to be an intelligence behind it. Reports from the time described the stones as coming from impossible angles. They weren't just lobbed over a fence. They were coming from the sky, hitting the roofs with such force that tiles would shatter and rain down onto the pavement. How do you throw a stone from the ground to hit a roof at that specific angle
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** and that hard.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** You can't. And some of these rocks were were good. They were pretty big, weren't they? They were good size.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And you can't And the residents were hardworking, grounded people. These weren't people who were like in their basement summoning spirits or something. And they weren't people who were looking for attention. It was just the opposite. They were these were terrified people that wanted this to stop. You know, they they felt like they were being watched. They said that even when the stones weren't flying at them, you could feel a static charge in the air. You could feel the the hair on their arms and on the back of their necks coming up.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** It was there was a heaviness that they said made it hard for them to breathe as if things were harassing them. Even when the rocks weren't there, they felt like there was some kind of evilness, some kind of evil entity, something that was residing near them, making them feel panic, you know.

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. Yeah. Just think about the sheer volume of fear. We're talking We're talking hundreds of stones. There's tiles, bricks, pebbles. They were appearing out of nowhere. There were, this is really wild. There were accounts of people standing in their gardens watching the sky and seeing a stone appear, literally manifest out of nowhere, feet, sometimes yards above the ground where it zipped toward the house or even the ground beside. inside them.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** You know, they said that these rocks would like fly towards a target like let's say it was coming towards a window or something and there could be something in the way like a bush or a tree and it appeared to go around it. So
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Oh, really?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. Yeah.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** That's spooky. I
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And you know that's classic poltergeist.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. Yeah. There was I remember one story where a woman was looking out of her window and then thought was for whatever reason anyway and then she moved away from the window seconds after As she moved from the window, a rock hit the window right where she was standing.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. Almost as if it was like saying
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** watching her.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And threatening her. Yeah. That's classic poltergeist, right? Yeah. It's not just moving objects. It is the it, you know, it's the creation of objects, the manipulation of space itself. You know, it's violent physical manifestations of an unseen energy. And the residents of Thornon Road were just dealing dealing with this all the time. The damage they were dealing with, the exhaustion. How do you sleep when you know that any moment the window next to your bed may shatter, leaving, you know, a rock next to your head or worse yet on your head?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** You know that the roof might start to crumble if a big enough rock hits it. I mean, you know,
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** you the only way you'd sleep is from exhaustion because I'd be awake all the time. I'd be sleeping with
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I mean, these these weren't big mansion.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I go buy hockey gear for the first time in 64 years and put it all over my body.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** I mean, these weren't big houses. I mean, it wasn't like they could go in some inside hidden room,

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** right? So, it wasn't just the physical damage. It was the way the entity seemed to mock them. You'd have a group of people standing outside trying to catch whoever was doing it, and the stones would hit the very spot they had just vacated. It was like a game of cat and mouse where the cat was invisible and the mouse had nowhere to run. Yeah, I remember reading a testimony from one of the families. They said it was like the house was being invaded, not just by a person, but by a present they described had an intelligence.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And they said that there was a coal spot in their h in their hallway. It wouldn't go away. Even when they took a heater, they put the heat on in their house and then they took like a little portable heater and put it in that hallway on full blast, but it stayed cold. You know, and the sounds of the stones weren't just thuds. They were thuds that they said had intent. It was almost like sometimes the thuds had a rhythm to them. Not like just thud thud, but like thud thud thud. I mean, not really that, but you know what I mean. You know, they weren't trying to sell them insurance or anything, you know.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Thud the thud thud.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Really? This is what you up with.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Okay. So, it's

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** anyway uh sometimes uh when someone was uh was in the family that needed more sleep, like they had a a essay due or a test that quiz that next morning or something at school or had a something at work they really had to focus on. It seemed like the uh activity really focused on them to try to keep them awake.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. Yeah. Nice.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Anyway, so it was like it had an intent
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Right. So, it's that word intent that fits here. That's what separates a haunting from a poltergeist.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** A haunting is a loop and memory playback.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I have a I have a um I have a show that I'm working on right now with uh how to become a ghost if you ever wanted to.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Awesome.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** What a Halloween it's going to be this year.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. For Halloween, I have How to Become a Ghost. And it doesn't in include
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** uh white sheets. Right. It doesn't And it al it it involves continuing to live, right?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** No, it you know
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** because you're implying like you know
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** No, it's like you don't have to do it but how people have become ghosts so that when you die you don't do it.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Okay. After you pass, we all pray of natural causes. Old age.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Very old age.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** That's what your lesson is about.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Very old age.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Not about early termination or

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. Not like falling under a bus in the snow.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Oh. Oh god.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Splat.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Where the heck was I here? I'm so lost now.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** You said a It's a haunt. A haunting is like a loop or a memory playback.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** That's right. Yeah.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** That both the guys have an active conscious engagement.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. They're active. They have a conscious engagement with the living. And in 1980 on Thornton Road, that engagement was undeniably hostile, staying with the families until 1986, a full five plus years. So, Let me be clear with those dates. The first news report that was in the public that was in publication shows up in the Birmingham Evening Mail newspaper in May of 1981. But the events were happening a good year before. As for the difference between the end in 1984 and 1986, it's based on the fact that police closed the case in 1984, but residents in the area said it didn't stop completely until late 198 6.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** That's why it when I was researching for this, I did find that uh some reports said it started in ' 81, but it was because that's the first article and it ended in ' 84 because that's when the um the police closed the case, right?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** But anyway, as the weeks went on, the activity didn't die down. Sometimes with poltergeist, because they're sometimes connected to one person, when that person leaves like a child goes to school or they get to a certain age, the poltergeist stopped. But this poltergeist was through several buildings, several families, so it seemed to be connected to more than one person, which is not usual.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Anyway, it started to become more focused and seemed to zero in on specific rooms of specific h specific houses and specific windows in that houses. Um, and as it was like it was learning the layout of each house, learning where the people were the most vulnerable.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** And the fear grew. The whole street felt like it was under a dark cloud. Neighbors who had lived there for years, without a harsh word, were suddenly on edge. No one knew who to trust when the very air around them felt like it was vibrating with suspicion.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. Can you imagine like if one day

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** not much different than the total populace of the United states at this point. Anyway, sorry.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah, don't talk politics. Can you remember? Can you imagine if like one day several houses on the block all get broken windows, but the one house that didn't get any broken windows or any rocks that day or for a few days, they'd start thinking, well, why didn't that person, you know, get hit,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** right?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Anyway, despite the chaos, I mean, there was no logical explanation for anyone. No one was ever caught. No s source of of the stories was ever found. One night though, it just stopped.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** H
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. As abruptly as it began, the stones just stopped falling. The tiles stopped breaking off the houses. I saw pictures of the houses at the highlight of this that had um they had actually tried to put um like wire like fences over the house.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** netting type of wire. Yeah, they need wire. Really strong of some kind
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** and and it didn't really help them.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** It didn't work.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** No, because the they started like
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Oh, it sucks to be them, doesn't it?

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** They started coming like people at angles and going around it.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um and the residents, you know, what did they have left? They had to pick up the pieces both literally, metaphorically.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um and whatever was left was all they had. Everything else seem to be gone.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I'd be interested to know what existed there before their houses.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** But these houses had been there. They were row houses. They had been
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** they or houses before it had been there for hundreds of years.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I'm I'm getting to my my humorous theory here that I think it was some guy. You ever see the movie Ghost? The guy on the subway who knows how to move things and teaches Patrick Sees how to go and move stuff. Well, I think that it was Frederick from the pub who who passed away at the pub and learned he could move things.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Well, you know, it's funny that it's funny that you say that. The there have been poltergeist reports of people
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** who one of them was a pub that had rocks.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Oh, a psychic sense. Okay.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** That had rocks thrown at it for years.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um or that one was actually like 9 months. It was right here in New Hampshire.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Oh, really?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And that story is up on our website if somebody wants to go read about it. Um there were actually two uh stories. One was in Vermont and one was in New Hampshire. Um and they're very very interesting and they are up on our website if anyone wants to read about them. Anyway, let's go back to this one. Right. So, they were left with the knowledge that for a few terrifying years they had shared their lives with something that didn't belong to our world. They had lo looked into the abyss and the abyss had thrown rocks at them.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** You know that's true. They said, "You got to be careful when you look into the abyss. You never know what you're going to find."

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. So, they No one ever knew what happened. Police, like I said earlier, police decided it was uh just some catapult people. I mean, let's face it, that's an outrageous answer. Somebody was hiding in a bush like, you know, uh hundreds and hundreds of yards away hiding this mountain.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Why didn't they do house to house?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Well, they did. did and they couldn't find a catapult.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** No, they said some that people were hiding it maybe in some giant hill or something.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** If you're hurling a 10 lb rock, you need a sizable catapult.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Some of these rocks were bigger than that
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** from 200 feet. Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Or and then a bag of pebbles.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Bam bam.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And they went just as far as the rocks, you know, and they're hurling rocks uh at only those houses hitting only like, oh, all these people are standing in one spot. They move and 10 seconds later this rock hits exactly where they were before.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** So either they had perfect timing or 10-secondly off timing um
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** and and consistently at too.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** So even though the police actually had a bunch of the these rocks at the police station to look at,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** right,
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** they assumed and they didn't assume a
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** That's right. The rocks were polished, weren't they?

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah, they were smooth and polished and not dirty. There wasn't any dirt on the rocks.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** See, Frederick was clean. He nasty personality, but clean with his rocks and weaponry. You dig a rock, you know, we know from rock hunting and stuff that even when you wash a rock like you're going to, you know, it's hard to get dirt off a rock.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** So these rocks look like they thousands of rocks look like they always
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** need to be looking for a rock hound, too. You know, somebody who liked rocks.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And so, um, they either had to admit that these rocks were something else, um, something paranormal or It wasn't
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** right.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And their first theory was that kids were running this uh catapult
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** and that this catapult was hidden during the day cuz this usually happened in the evening.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um so case closed, they closed it. After all, cows turn themselves inside out every day. Nothing to see here.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** It's a story that stays with you, to be sure.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** It really does.

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Not because of the damage, but because of the mystery. Because Sometimes the most frightening things are the ones we can't explain away no matter how hard we try.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Anyway, like I was saying, this is not the only house. I mean, this stuff goes way back to like years of single numbers. I think the earliest one I found was like year 53 or something. All the way up to the last one was 2005, I found.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Really?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. But that one was in um uh whales and apparently it was really really debunked. So I didn't I mean it probably was real but you know the debunkers,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** right?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. So I um didn't bother putting that one in.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** And so that brings us to a close on our story about rock throwing.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. So do you want to go to our Hawaiian story?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I think it would be absolutely absolutely. Yeah. Now this is from a woman correct.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. This she's a listener,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** right? We were going to read this one last month. Last month. Last episode.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Okay. So, here. Why don't you Why don't you start off here?

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yep. This is a story from a woman who called herself uh Ja. She says she's 62 years old and a Hawaiian native who lives on the island of what's this?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Kauawaii.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Kauaii. You think I'd know, you know. Um she has her own unusual crypted story that is wonderful. Sometimes I wish I could have experienced it. I mean, like we were saying, this is a really nice story.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Mhm. Right. So, anyway, she lives on the island of Kauaii in Hawaii, like you said, and she says she was a child that at when she was a child, she lived in what was then not too much more than a village not far from, and I'm going to try to say this right, Wua. She loved to walk for hours around Wua State Park along the water on the rain and the rainforest.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. That's interesting because I didn't even know they had a rainforest.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** They got everything there.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Snow.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Really?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** You love snow?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I hate snow.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** They have everything from snow to drop.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** That makes me not want to go to Hawaii.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Anyway, she said many times she found things um that the How do you say that?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Menoon Menahooni.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Menahooni. which are the little people there.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Oh, one moment. If we have said this wrong and it's Menahoon, please forgive us.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And yeah, and
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** we're we're stupid old people. We can't always get
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** So, for for sake of argument, we're going to say Menehune through this story. We hope it doesn't conflict.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Anyway, they're they're the little people of the forest. Okay.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Um and they like to build uh what's that? Ve va va
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** which are boats um for in leaves and
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** it's spelled v aa for the record.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um she explained that uh they were only out at night and would run under to hide
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** the men the boats.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And they had a contract. She didn't say what kind of contract, but I assume it's some kind of magical contract that they had to follow. And they had to finish every project that they started in the nighttime or they had to abandon it forever.

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Wow. So she she said once she was when she was about 9, she got up extra early to catch a glimpse of them before the sun came up and she saw them.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** She was she was surprised to find that the traditional description of them being brighteyed elflike people, stocky with dark skin and bushy eyebrows wearing leaves and bark was right.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** That's wild.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** But they were far smaller than the three feet her people believed them to be. She watched them finish putting the last touches on a tiny building with leaves and and and bark, leaves and bark that vanished before her eyes.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Then they ran into the brush and were gone.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. She said she kept returning every morning as early as she could and as early as she could. She snuck out of the house before school and on the weekends when she could.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yep. She she cut into her story a little factoid here. She said when she was in school, even through high school, they never wore shoe. They never wore shoes. They went to school barefoot.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** I thought that was wild. Yeah. You know, and I looked that up to just verify that

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** and it was true. Took me a while to find it, but they do they did let the kids go to school. Not that we don't didn't believe her.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Not that Yeah. Not that we didn't believe her, but just so unheard of. Yeah. I mean, you know, we have to go to We had to go to school in boots some
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** like you can imagine that. I just I didn't look it up. cuz I didn't believe.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** You know, it blows me away that people from the Middle East who live here who have immigrated, they will they will wear sometimes sandals in winter time.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** We'll see them walking around with sandals barefoot.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Talk about incredible endurance.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. Anyway, she said that uh a dozen of times um a dozen of time dozens of times she saw them, but then one day her luck ran out. They discovered she was watching them.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** They surrounded her. They She thought that they were going to do some terrible magic on her or curse her or worse her and her family. But they didn't.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. They didn't curse her. She was terrified she'd have to go home and say to her mother, "Um,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I got you cursed.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** I got you cursed." But instead, one of them came up to
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Happy birthday.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And told her that she was interfering, um, for lack of a better word, with their quota and that they wanted her to leave them alone. So, They said they were going to introduce her to some other people of the wild who would be her friends so she would go and be with them and leave her alone. Leave them alone to leave them alone to do their work in peace. Yeah.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. She said then there was a a shining of thoughts. Shinning of thoughts.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I think she meant shining of little light.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Oh, sorry.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** You got to read better, hun.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** It's my glasses. I'm sorry. I need to go see the optometrist. Yeah, she she said there was a shining of little lights in the trees and what could only be called fairies came through the branches. She pointed now she pointed out fairies are not in the local traditions.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. She said Hawaii has no tradition at all of fairies.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Fascinating. Yeah. Now, nowhere on the islands has there ever been a fairy sighting as far as she's known. But she was standing there almost 10 years old, which is old enough to know what she was looking at. And they were They were fairies.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** So cool.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah, I would love love it. Love it.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** One woman came forward and told her not to come in to come in the one of the little women, I guess, told her not to come in the morning anymore. Come in the afternoon after school, but before down and if she's alone, one of them will come out.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. She said, but she had to be alone. You know, don't take school friends or anything.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** So, she did. She came every afternoon after that. And every afternoon that she could all of the rest of her life. Now, she's 62 and she still goes.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Wow.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And someone always comes, but she can't take anyone to prove it,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** right?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um she visits with them. She started visiting with them after school. And when she grew grew up after work. Even when she was married, she refused to move out of the area so she could stay with her fairy friends who she speaks to every day, even to today when she can.

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** There were a few things they shared with her which I thought were fascinating that she told us. And um she told us she was going to try to get some proof, some pictures of them um when we finally go to a video podcast, which we're hoping we can,
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** right?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** And We're hoping she will send those pictures.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Mhm.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Anyway, she said they came to the place that is they came to this place that is they come from a place that is they quote around earth like a coat that covers earth. So do you think that's an edge or something?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah, it sounds like an edge.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** What we know is an edge. A doorway between two different realms or dimensions. Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** They're they're not born with wings, she says. And they develop As part of puberty, you grow your wings.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Their their lifespan is
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Every time a bell rings,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** this part is really fascinating to me. Their lifespan is about as long as ours, but time seems to go slower in the place they live. So, they age faster the longer they visit here.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. Which she said is why they don't stay long and they rotate which ones come to visit her.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And they cross into this world to harvest medical herbs that won't grow for them. in their soil, but humans see less and less of them because most of what they harvest has gone extinct on Earth. So, they're coming over to get herbs for medicines and other things for their for their people,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** right?
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Since there's less and less probably because cities and for and deforestation and things
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** and all these years, South Park has had us believing that they're after our underpants. Just proof right there. You're completely wrong, guys. Yeah.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Oh, yes. The Yeah. The purity of the of our salt and they they asked her to bring what? Little packets.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** The little packets of it. Those little ones. Not the bigger ones, but the little ones that you split. She said, she cuts them in half up the middle
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** and she brings them once in a while. They when they ask for them.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Do you remember that time that our budget was so tight and all we could afford was salt? And we looked at each other and said, "Well,
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** at least we have salt.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** At least we can at least we can buy salt. At least we got salt."

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** They they don't have wars, but unfortunately they do. do have one criminal, they have a criminal activity that can sometimes happen, but it is not often at all. That is when someone refuses to share what they have, which is a horrific thing to even think of for them. That's a very different society. Wow.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. Yeah. Um, selfishness is the only crime they could ever have. It doesn't happen often, but like if somebody has something that they refuse to share, that is the only crime they have.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um, and uh, she did say one more thing. She actually giggled when she was telling me this story. She said she asked them one day when she was much young. Oh, well, she was much younger than she is now, if they had wings, since they had wings, were they born from eggs?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Ah,
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** yeah. And she said there were a few of them there and they just stood at stood looking at her kind of flabbergasted and then they all broke out laughing.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Mhm.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And Yeah. And then they said, "No, no, no." And um she was in her 20s at the time. She said she she just blushed all over. Felt like her whole body was hot with blushing, right?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** And she now picture this. She's 20 and she felt like she just asked her mother or another grown up where babies

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** where do babies come from?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah,
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** she was really really a nice person.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** This this is is a fascinating story to me. It actually gives some description of the culture and why they're here.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** You know, which and it's nice to know that it's for a benign and positive purpose.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Right. Right.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Though I I hope positive and benign don't be contradict each other. They're they're not here to cause any harm. They're here to gather things up. for medicine to for their own people and for herbs and other. Yes.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Oh, she also said that if you're out in the woods and you have a like if you're out on a picnic in the woods or something and you have a small child or a baby with you, they love children and babies so much. If they have to be if they happen to be out collecting something from the woods at that time,
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** it they will look at your baby and bless your baby.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Ah, that's so sweet.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Isn't that sweet?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** What a sweet people.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. And they h they have their own type of, you know, magic or luck. And so you can have a child, if you have a child that seems to have everything in the world that just one of those very lucky lucky children, it they've probably been blessed by a fairy.

**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah. Isn't that kind of cool?
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** What a wonderful story. This is great.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Yeah.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** I I we love
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** And they are all over the world because they can come through any, as they put it,
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** zipper in a coat.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** What I find fascinating is that from different cultures, we hear descriptions of little people and they all seem to look the same same type of hair, clothing, skin color, but some of them
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** and they and some of them come from, you know, the these sightings come from different parts of the world where not everybody looks
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** like a European elf.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah. But like the fairies have wings, some of them don't.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um the fairies uh don't seem to have the pointed hats. A lot of them do.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Um of course some of the cryptids like Bigfoot um are said to come through these edges.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Um
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** a whole host of different creatures.
**Speaker 2 (Michelle):** Right. Yeah. Right.
**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Anyway, I think we're uh getting close to the end.

**Speaker 1 (Paul):** Yeah.
